We made it folks – 2017 is finally over and while it was a mess of a year, there were some real bright spots in Geek Media. Genre entertainment continues to deliver amazing content even in this darkest of timelines, so we’re here to tell you what we loved most in 2017 and recap of our year long reading challenge.

Probably the most talked about and divisive Star Wars film yet – this week we tackle The Last Jedi. We’re both very conflicted about this film and there’s nothing like geeky podcast therapy to grapple with our feelings. Might as well give our Force Awakens episode a listen as well, just to see how much a difference two years and two completely different movies makes.
We’re in a bit of scheduling limbo with Star Wars coming out today, so we’re rolling with another of our (in)famous Geek Potpourri episodes! Hear us chat about all the books, movies, television and games we’ve been geeking out about the last few weeks! And if that’s not enough, we go on epic tangents about reusable shopping bags and the hot singles of Stardew Valley!

This was one of Brian’s favorite books growing up (and he hyped it pretty significantly to Kristin) – does it stand the test of time or collapse under the weight of its daunting length and outdated tropes? It’s been over two years since Marvel’s Netflix series began. There’s been some highs, some lows, and some really, really yellow-glowy fisty lows, but now it’s come to this – The Defenders! After two years, five stand alone series, and four new heroes, did it all pay off in the end?
Much like the road leading here, there were many ups and downs in The Defenders, and we’re chatting about all of them. And much like the Korra comic we discussed last episode, it’s a bit of missed opportunity. One thing’s for certain though:
We could have taken a jaunty stroll through the Spirit World in the time we’ve been waiting for this Korra comic – BUT NOW THE WAIT IS OVER! Was it worth the long wait?
